This is the part of history that always gets me. No matter the time period, people are all the same. From the Roman Empire to the World Wars, kings to trench soldiers, they have the same fears, dreams, and desires. They are jerks and saints and everything in between - just like us. The only difference is that they were born in different circumstances. Textbooks only rattle off their deeds and accomplishments, but they had lives, like you and I.
Er, sorry if this is lame. Thanks for the message!

This is a month-late reply, so sorry ‘bout that! Since you’re aiming for ‘like mine’, I’ll assume you mean straight-up 20th century history. Here ya go:

*not always 20th century, but I still highly recommend this one
** not in any particular order
A bit of both actually. Seriously, google is pretty much the only thing you really need to find all this stuff. I usually just search for a particular subject, or pull from the hundreds of galleries and gov./private archives that are out there. You end up stumbling upon a lot if you’re into it.
Finding context, source, and author can be a real pain in the yeeno. Especially on stuff like forums or foreign sites. Which reminds me - I still find myself mildly annoyed by the rebloggers who replace my url with theirs to make it seem like they posted my stuff. I don’t get it.
Anyways, thanks for the question!
Okay, I am incredibly sorry for the complete lack of posts these past few weeks. I’ve been on vacation and the scarcity of wifi in this country kills me. In any case, I probably should have set up a longer queue or something - but laziness. That doesn’t make up for anything, but I should be able to return to posting when I get back home, which is somewhere around August 8th. By then, I will have probably lost a lot of followers and whatnot. (who am I kidding, it’s already happening)
Once again, I’m completely sorry! You guys can flay, quarter, and feed me to the wolves when I come back. Or… reply with some sort of elaborate or crazy torture from history. Winner gets a Vlad Tepes Award*.
* seriously.
